Why I Vlog

So there are a lot of reasons why I vlog. Although, a lot of times it hasn’t been easy to vlog, I can now say that I can vlog at ease and be confident about it. In this post, I am going to run off some reasons why I vlog and some advice for vlogging that I have given myself over the years.

  • So, imagine you are 90 years old and you want to go back and remember a good day. Well… you can do this with a vlog. I know you can take pictures but there is something about actually watching and reliving a moment. This is the number one reason why I vlog. I can go back to the exact moment something happened and remind myself of all the little things that we easily forget.
  • I also have a love for editing. Editing vlogs are my favourite! They usually get a laugh out of me as I sit and edit the awkward bits out. Creating the video itself is a big hobby of mine and it is so satisfying to watch the video over when it is finished.
  • Filming is something that I used to feel very awkward about, but now, I feel like filming is such a joy! Making content for vlogs puts me in a much better mood than I would be if I wasn’t vlogging. It also gets me out to enjoy things and have a laugh more.
  • I also love watching vlogs. I am naturally a nosy person so I love looking into someone’s life. (Not in a creepy way I can assure you.) I love long vlogs. My favourite vlogs are by Zoella and Alfie Deyes (aka Pointless Blog) I feel like I can relate to them a lot and I think we have the same sense of humor so I often find myself laughing out loud to their vlogs a lot. There is something so special about watching vlogs as I feel you can really see someones personality in a vlog rather than the classic ‘sit down videos’. Even though there are some things that you may not upload and somethings will be kept secret, I feel there can be a personal connection made with content creators and viewers through vlogs.

That little voice in your head that is coming up with a million reasons why you CAN’T vlog… That stops now. For years I had the same voice in my head. But that’s just the thing, it is all in your head. If you are worried about people judging you, if you are worried that you don’t have an interesting life, if you are worried no-one will watch…Do you know what I say? WHO THE HELL CARES? If vlogging is something you really want to do. Do it. It is that simple. Don’t over think it. Just whap out the camera and be yourself. So long I put self doubts in my head and I am so glad that I have started to do it seriously now. Not every vlog is going to be amazing or interesting, but that is life. I will film what I can, when I can, to remember all the little to bigger things.

You don’t need a fancy camera or an expensive editing software. I used to use my phone to film and I still edit my videos with Movie Maker (haha)! But it isn’t the quality of the video, its the person in the video that makes or breaks it. Be yourself and your video will shine!

If you have a YouTube Channel or vlog, please leave a link below and I would love to check it out. I also have a vlog going up on my channel as we speak.

Thank you and I will see you soon.

I remember 2 years ago wanting to vlog but then realised I am so uncomfortable vlogging so I gave up on that idea 😛 I was obsessed with YouTubers, but that sort of died down. I still watch YouTube, but not as much as before. I would like to get back into watching more vloggers though 🙂
